This series of paintings goes back many years to some of my earliest art work. They grow gradually and without conscious advance thought or planning. First the colored background is created with very thin acrylic paint using a wet-on-wet watercolor technique. Then black acrylic paint is applied, with an extremely fine brush - no, I don't use a pen at all, that's all brush work.

This painting is 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches and is painted with acrylic paints on 140 pound cold-press watercolor paper. It was painted in 2005. It is attractively framed in a simple wooden frame.
