It had been a gray and rainy day and it was turning into a gray and rainy twilight. I was over two hours from home and the day had begun almost 11 hours ago. The road stretched ahead of me with its own life. The hills rolled away into the distance and the already dark sky darkened even more. The world was wrapped in a gray blanket. My car was a haven and I knew dinner would be on the stove when I finally got home. Even on days like this, maybe especially on days like this, it is worth taking note of the beautiful Tennessee scenery and pausing to appreciate the many blessings of my life.
This painting is 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches and is painted with acrylic paints on 140 pound cold-press watercolor paper. It was painted in December of 2005. It is attractively framed in a simple wooden frame.
