I have done a few variations on this theme and this may be one of my favorites. To me this symbolizes one of the core beliefs of my life, what I call "defying the reality of powerlessness." The tree is definitely not one that has seen an easy life, no gentle meadow and cool waters for this one. Yet it bravely, defiantly, waves red ribbons in the wind.

 

 

This painting is 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches on 140# cold-press watercolor paper. It is surface mounted on a slightly larger sheet of 140# watercolor paper. It was created with acrylic paints in 2005. It is professionally framed in a custom-made frame.
